Professor Bani Awarded Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Fellowship
Assistant Professor of Musicology Rachel Bani was awarded an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Fellowship to The Huntington Library for her project ‘”I’d rather consort with Judas’: Scottish Gaelic Song and Popular Reactions to the Sutherland Clearances.”
This fellowship will allow Rachel to spend a month exploring The Huntington’s British History collection at The Huntington Library in San Marino, CA, one of the most significant repositories in the world for British history.
In November 2024, Professor Bani presented her paper “Women, Song, and the Battle for Land Reform in Nineteenth-Century Scotland” at the 90th annual meeting of the American Musicological Society in Chicago, IL.
